N2 - Direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor (DDPMSM) technology is a key research issue in the field of future rail transport. In this paper, the key electromagnetic design problems of DDPMSM for electric locomotives are investigated, and a 1.2 MW, 287r/min DDPMSM with the characteristics of low-speed, large torque, low BEMF, high efficiency, high power density, and high power factor is designed according to the actual operation requirements, and the electromagnetic performances of the DDPMSM under typical operation conditions are analyzed, which mainly focuses on the influence of the parameters of the V-type permanent magnets, the surface slots parameters of the rotor on the magnetic field distribution, the reverse potential, the inductance and torque of the DDPMSM, and the correlation is pointed out. Surface slots parameters on the DDPMSM magnetic field distribution, reverse potential, alternating-axis inductance and torque parameters such as research and optimization, for future DDPMSM electromagnetic design and performance upgrading to provide reference.
