Abstract

The method of vertical isolation is proposed to improve the capability of structural seismic resistance. Principle of vertical seismic reduction is analyzed firstly and a new three-dimensional isolator is proposed in this paper, with its geometry configuration and mechanics parameters confirmed. Based on this, Then the effect of isolation on a continuous slab bridge under vertical component of El-centro earthquake wave is analysed and the research on the influence of vertical damping to vertical isolation effect is performed. The results show that the new three-dimensional seismic isolator is effective in reducing the vertical dynamic response of continuous slab bridges. With the increase of damping coefficient, the vertical seismic isolation effect will increase, but the damping coefficient has an appropriate value.
