Abstract

An efficiency map evaluation method is proposed for surface-mounted permanent-magnet in-wheel motor for electric vehicle considering different flux-weakening control strategies and analytical loss calculation. This method will further benefit the efficiency evaluation of electric drive system as well as the global vehicle system. Analytical results have been compared with the results of finite element method which considers saturation effect. The validity of this method is proved.
