Abstract

Quantitative characterization of void content, distribution, shape, size of the laminates was obtained by ultrasonic C-scan, microscopic inspection and image analysis software. The effects rule of void content on interlaminar shear strength (ILSS), longitude tensile strength and compress strength were discussed. The results show that the laminate lay up type affects the void distribution; void length, area and aspect ratio increase with the increasing void content; the void content, ILSS, longitude tensile strength and compress strength, and the laminate lay up type affect longitude tensile modulus.
