Abstract

The effects of space electron irradiation on the optical properties of ZnO-siloxane thermal control coatings were investigated. The surface micrograph and element composition of the ZnO-siloxane thermal control coatings were characterized by SEM and EDS, and the damaged mechanism was discussed. The results showed that the siloxane resin of the coatings was degraded and carbonized with the increase of electron irradiation dose under the same energy condition. Those changes resulted in decrease of the optical properties of the ZnO-siloxane thermal control coatings.
