Abstract

Characteristics of phase transformation of Ti-23Al-25Nb-0.36Y alloy were analyzed by DTA. Heat treatment conditions of these alloys were determined by the DTA results. The microstructures and phase composition of alloy were analyzed by means of SEM and XRD. Room temperature compression tests were tested by the Instron-5569 machine. The experimental results show that two endothermic peak appear in DTA curves of Ti-23Al-25Nb-0.36Y alloy. The micro-structure of Ti-23Al-25Nb-0.36Y alloy is B2-phase solution treated at 1320°C, and O-phase and α2 phase separate out along with decrease of the solution temperature. The alloy with O + B2 phases gained by solution treated at 900°C has the best mechanical properties with the compressive strength of 1976.77 MPa, compressibility of 36.57% and yield strength of 789.91 MPa.
