Abstract

The heat resistance of organic silicone resin was improved by using methacryl-POSS. Methyl-phenyl-silicone resin was synthesized firstly, then it was modified by methacryl-POSS. The structures of unmodified and modified organic silicone resin were characterized by FTIR, and thermal properties were compared by using thermogravimetic analysis (TG) and ablation test. The effects of methacryl-POSS on the heat resistance of organic silicone resin were investigated by derivative thermogravimetic analysis (DTG). The results show that the heat resistance of the modified methyl-phenyl-silicone resin can be improved, and its pyrolytic degradation degree in the air can be reduced.
