Abstract

The microstructures and mechanical properties of Ti-23Al-25Nb alloy in various heat treatment conditions were studied. The trans formation characters of Ti-23Al-25Nb alloy are analyzed by DTA and the heat treatment technologies are decided order basing on DTA curves; the microstructures and the phase compositions of the alloys are analyzed by means of SEM and XRD. The Instron-5569 machine conducts room temperature compression test. Results shown that the alloy only had the single B2 phase at 1320°C. Subsequently, the alloy was quenched at 1130°C and 900°C respectively. The former showed the microstructure with B2+O+ α2 three phases. Compression stress, yield stress and compressibility reached 1289.08 MPa, 1264.74 MPa and 16.75% respectively. The latter showed the O+B 2 two-phase microstructure. Compression stress, yield stress and compressibility reached 1683.88 MPa, 797.82 MPa and 34.39% respectively.
