Abstract
The influence of thermomagnetic treatment on microstructure, ultimate tensile strength (UTS), and elongation of aluminum borate whisker reinforced aluminum composite consisting of Fe3O4 particles, was analyzed. The composite used was fabricated using a casting method with the whisker and particle volume fraction of 24%. To analyze the mechanism of thermomagnetic treatment on the UTS, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation of the dislocations in the matrix was carried out. The results show that thermomagnetic treatment is a very effective technique to improve the tensile properties of the composite containing magnetoresistive particles.
