Abstract

The effect of thermal-cold cycling treatment on the dimensional stability of SiCp/2024Al composite was studied. The results show that the thermal-cold cycling treatment can reduce the residual stress in the composite and accelerate the aging precipitation of the matrix alloy, thus improve the dimensional stability of the composite in the alternate changing temperature field. The lower the cycling lower limit temperature, i.e. the bigger the difference between the upper and lower temperature, the more obvious the effect of decreasing residual stress and the greater the effect of accelerating aging precipitation, so that the better the dimensional stability of the composite.
