Abstract

The relationship model of static head in tundish, atomization pressure on the tip of nozzle and the mass median droplet diameter was established. The mass median droplet diameter will decrease with reducing static head when the atomization back pressure is a settled value (the atomization pressure does not change) and with increase of atomization pressure (static head is constant). In order to get good quality preform, the change of metal flow rate caused by the change of static head was adjusted by altering the atomization pressure according to this model.
