Abstract

SnO2-coated Al18B4O33 whisker reinforced 6061Al matrix composites were fabricated using squeeze casting method, and extruded at 350 °C. The texture and microstructure of the extruded composites were studied by ω-scan X-ray diffraction, SEM and TEM techniques. The results indicate that both <111> and <100> fiber textures coexist in the matrix of all extruded composites, and <111> texture is stronger than <100> texture. The dispersion degrees of textures increase with the SnO2 coating content.
