Abstract

We report on the irradiation effect of pulsed laser on synthesis of TbAlO3 while comparing two different laser configurations (microsecond laser and femtosecond laser). TbAlO3 was synthesized on the irradiated target surface directly under atmospheric conditions and characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope. The XRD results showed TbAlO3 with orthorhombic perovskite structure has been synthesized only by microsecond laser. Regardless of the material properties used, it is found that laser pulse duration play an important role in the synthesis of TbAlO3. It is analyzed the high-temperature condition induced by the microsecond laser irradiation is the dominant mechanism for the formation of TbAlO3.
