Abstract
The preparation of Cu/Cu2O cermet by powder metallurgy (PM) and volume reduction methods with the influence of porosity and copper content on its compressive strength was discussed. It was observed that the volume reduction method show higher strength of the cermet and lower sensitivity to porosity. This suggested that copper distributes more uniformly in the Cu 2O matrix, which was verified by electric and thermal conductivities. It was also found that the compressive strength of the Cu/Cu2O cermet had no dependence on the copper content.
