Abstract

Local heat treatment of electron beam welded thick TC4 alloy plate is conducted. The effect of scanning beam current and scanning time on the microstructure and microhardness of welded joints are investigated. The results show that the change of scanning beam current and scanning time has no effect on the base material in the scanned area. However, the microstructure characteristics of the joints under different scanning beam currents and scanning times are obvious. The microstructure of TC4 alloy joint is finer and the hardness of weld decreases after local heat treatment. In addition, the hardness of welded joint is stable and the fluctuation of hardness can be fixed within a range with different scanning beam currents and scanning times.
