Abstract

TZM alloy was successfully brazed to ZrCp-W composite by using Ti-28Ni (at%) eutectic alloy at 1040℃. The effect of holding time on interfacial microstructure and properties of TZM/ZrCp-W brazed joints was studied in this paper. The typical interfacial microstructure of TZM/ZrCp-W brazed joint was TZM/Ti(s,s)/Ti2Ni/(Ti,Zr)C+W(s,s)/ZrCp-W. As holding time extended, the thickness of brazing seam increased, while each reaction layer had different changes. For Ti(s,s) layer, it stayed the same. Ti2Ni layer had a slight increase, at the same time, diffusion layer increased largely. Shear test results indicated that the highest shear strength of 120 MPa was obtained when brazing time was 10 min, and the brazed joint fractured in TZM substrate.
