Abstract
TiAl based alloy sheet with fine grain size and fully lamellar microstructure was prepared by permanent mold vacuum suction casting technique, and the microstructure of the alloy sheet before and after heat treatment was examined. The results indicate that because of forced cooling and addition of alloy element, grain size of as-cast Ti-47Al-5Nb-0.5Si and Ti-47Al-2W-0.5Si alloys are about 20 μm with uneven lamellar microstructure, and there is serious segregation observed in the alloys. After heat treatment, the microstructure of the TiAl based alloys are coarsened, but the segregation is improved and the lamellar becomes smooth and stable.
