Abstract

The cold plasma graft technology is used for treating the surface of carbon fiber braid. It creates active function groups on the fiber surface. The effects of cold plasma graft treatment on the interlaminar shear strength of carbon fiber braid/epoxy composite are examined. Results show that the cold plasma treatment improves the surface polarity of carbon fiber and therefore improves interfacial properties of composites.
