Abstract

The microstructure, transformation temperature, mechanical properties and shape memory effects for Ti36Ni49Hf15 alloy aged at 973 K were investigated as a function of time by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, electrical resistance-temperature measurement, and bending and tensile tests. The transformation temperatures of the alloy decreased rapidly with prolonged aging time at first, and then remained constant as the aging time was increased. The yield strength reached the maximum when the alloy was aged at 973 K for about 20 hours.
