Ecological suitability evaluation for urban plan of Panjin New city, Liaoning Province

Abstract

The main purposes of ecological suitability evaluation of Panjin New city are evaluating the land use and finding which types of land are suitable for city construction. The authors study the subject by adopting the methods of AHP, expert decision and GIS, and get the final results by three steps: First, the authors select the ecological factors interfered with the urban plan and grant the weights to each factors; second, the authors draw a serial images of single factor by availing the remote sensing data; third, the authors put the different layers together and get the combined evaluating image via ArcGIS software. At last, we can draw conclusions that most land of the planning areas is suitable for urban construction and the planning regions can be divided into three parts according to its ecological suitability.
