Abstract

With the widespread application of reticulated shells in significant occasions, the dynamic responses of these structures under accidental loading, such as impact and explosion, have been gradually taken into account. Based on the previous study, this paper presents the dynamic responses of single-layer reticulated domes under impact loads in the environment of a FEM software ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Failure process, failure modes and other dynamic responses are systematically investigated when mass, velocity, size, and material of the impactor vary. This paper also sheds light on the sensitivity of parameters of reticulated domes under impact loads, and these conclusions provide a constructive criterion for the impact resistance design of reticulated domes.
