Abstract
The concept of Johnson's dynamic permeability k (w) is analyzed. k (w) includes the effects of both the viscous force correction and the mass coupling in Biot's theory. A comparison between k (w) and related Biot's formulation kB (w) shows that the difference is slight if β=64α∞/m. It is shown that the borehole acoustic guided waves decay more slowly for a formation of a larger α ∞.
