Abstract

Model test and theoretical analysis were conducted to study the dynamic performance of cable net facade with consideration of glass panels. First the effects of glass panels on the natural frequencies, vibration modes and damping were investigated with dynamic characteristics test, then the working mechanism of glass panels in coordination with cable net was proposed, and accordingly a numerical model of glass panels in coordination with cable net was built for the dynamic analysis. The study indicates that: the bending stiffness of glass panels has little effect on the first vibration mode of cable net facade, while the effect on the high vibration modes is significant; the damping of the cable net with glass panels is much higher than that of the cable net alone, as is mainly decided by glass panels.
