Abstract

The static and dynamic mechanical performances of yttria stabilized zirconia ceramics were studied in this paper, and the microstructures of the composite were also analyzed. The results showed that the composite was a kind of strain rate sensitive material and its dynamic compressive strength was obviously higher than its static compressive strength. The dynamic damage mechanism of composite could be expressed by the results of the total effects of several factors such as stress, strain, inertia effect, friction, temperature and etc. Which is different with that of static compression.
