Abstract
An experiment for a high speed hybrid gas bearing-rotor system was presented here to acquire the highest rotating speed of the system. Its dynamic characteristics were analyzed by employing a three-dimension spectrum, a response-time diagram, a bode diagram and an axis center locus diagram. The results indicated that the low frequency whirl phenomenon of the rotor (weights: 15.19 kg) which was supported with the hybrid gas bearings could be observed at the rotating speed of 42 700 r/min. This provided the experimental basis for the bearing support system design of a rotating ramjet.
