Abstract
A new dynamic model of gear-rotor system, considering coupling between radial clearance and dynamic backlash, is developed. Then, the effects of coupling relation between radial clearance and backlash on the dynamic characteristics of gear-rotor system are investigated. Also, the dynamic backlash model is performed by using the geometrical relationship between center distance and backlash. Further, in order to accurately capture the dynamic response, the torsional vibration of gear is considered by using the dynamic backlash model and time-varying mesh stiffness model, and radial vibration is considered using the Lankarani-Nikravesh contact force model. Thus, the numeric simulation of a spur gear pair with multiple clearances coupled are presented and achieved. The coupling effects of radial clearance and backlash on system dynamic characteristics are analyzed. The simulation results indicate that the coupling of multiple clearances obviously has a great influence on dynamic characteristics of gear-rotor system. Therefore, the coupled dynamic behavior of gear-rotor system with multiple clearances can be predicted by the present model.
