Abstract

The paper presents an investigation of dual-permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) drive with a fault-tolerant inverter. Two different topologies of post fault-tolerant inverter are investigated, and fault-tolerant control algorithm with an improved pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme is proposed for the drive considering the injection of the modulation signal in fault phase leg. A hardware controller based on a chip of STM32F103ZET6 is designed to verify the proposed fault-tolerant scheme, and finally the simulation and experimental result are used to verify its robustness and fault tolerance feature.
