Abstract

For modern wheeled vehicles, hybrid electric drive system (HEDS) technology can effectively improve their performance, and hence attracts wide attention. As a core part, the in-wheel motor directly affects the capability of the whole system. In order to improve the overload ability of the in-wheel motor, this paper introduces a type of double-stator permanent magnet synchronous motor (DSPMSM). Then, from the view of electric load, theoretical deduction and simulation experiments are done to analyze the torque characteristics of this motor. Results show that by adjusting the outer-inner winding turns ratio properly, DSPMSM has higher torque and power density, in comparison to traditional single-stator motors. This helps to improve the performance of HEDS.
