Abstract

The paper assessed the impact of transport infrastructure on economic growth in Tanzania using statistical information from 2003 to 2018. The structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed. The research determines the relationship between transport infrastructure and economic growth, which shows each construct on the final model has significant effects. Therefore, the results evidence the impact of transport infrastructure on economic growth in Tanzania. From the obtained results and nature of this study, we suggested that transportation authorities should design transportation policy, which support the development of transport infrastructure and existing good transportation policy should be maintained for the continued economic growth of Tanzania. In addition, the government should encourage public, private partnership (PPP) in the implementation of transportation infrastructure projects. This study also would provide new insight to policymakers on solving transport infrastructure problems, setting investment priorities and project management.
