Abstract
Liquid atomization exists in a wide range of applications, such as printing, agriculture and combustion devices. However, liquid atomization involves topology change of gas-liquid interface that makes it complex. By now, it is still not fully understood of the atomization mechanism and the atomization modelling is not accurate. With the development of computational capacity and interface capturing method, more and more researchers perform the numerical simulation of atomization. The aim of the present work is to study the primary atomization by using the Level Set interface capturing method to reveal the swirling atomization mechanism and the contribution of surface instability.
