Abstract

With the three-coordinate measuring machine, the dimensional instability of LY12CZ welded specimens under the condition of thermal cycles was investigated experimentally. The deformation mechanism was analyzed from the viewpoint of mechanics and microstructure. The experimental results show that the dimension of LY12CZ welded specimens will tend to stable after nine thermal cycles, and the reasons for instable deformation of welded specimens are related with temperature, microstructure and residual welding stress relaxation.
