Abstract

This paper proposes a novel force application device for simulating Mars gravity. That is a kind of voice coil motor (VCM), which has lots of advantages, such as small time constant, fast dynamic response and simple structure. The electromagnetic force expression of VCM can be derived through analytic calculation, and then the electromagnetic force and the coil inductance can be optimized by changing air gap length and polarization direction length of permanent magnet with finite element. The structure parameters are confirmed to meet technical requirements. The mathematic model and transfer function of VCM are derived, so that VCM's control system can be known by Simulink of MATLB. At last, theoretical result is validated by experiment.
