Abstract
An ultra-wideband parabolic antenna is designed, whose feed is designed as four exponential tapered feed arms. The designing idea and method are introduced firstly. Then, the influence of different exponential tapered rates and the angle between feed arms on antenna performance is researched by electromagnetic simulation, and the impedance and radiation performance are analyzed in detail. Finally, the experiment model is fabricated and measured. The measured bandwidth is from 0.95 GHz to 20 GHz on conditions that the voltage standing wave ratio is lower than 2, and the gain is 15.5 dB to 30.5 dB within the frequency range 2 GHz to 14 GHz. Simulation and measurement results verify that this antenna has not only ultra-wide impedance bandwidth but also high gain. The antenna is suitable for ultra-wideband communication, ultra-wideband radar, and wireless monitoring and management systems.
