Design of robust H PSS based on minimum entropy

Abstract

A sub-optimal H PSS with the minimum entropy bound is designed by researching the characteristic of minimum entropy H optimal control in this paper. The augmented transfer function of generator with PSS is developed for the single machine infinite bus (SMIB) power system. A new robust nonlinear control strategy for SMIB power system is designed based on minimum entropy constraint. The simulation results show that the proposed H PSS with minimum entropy constraint improves system robustness to dynamic uncertainties, and suppresses the exogenous perturbation to the system. It is concluded that the proposed PSS provides better damping to the oscillatory of the power system than the conventional PSS under a wide range of operating conditions.
