Abstract

In this paper, a liquid crystal (LC) based reconfigurable circular polarized (CP) reflectarray antenna operating within the frequency range from 98 to 102 GHz is proposed. The proposed antenna is composed of a reconfigurable reflectarray and a polarization converter. As to the unit cell structure of reconfigurable reflectarray, it consists of three different parallel dipoles put on a LC substrate. In order to realize the circular polarization, the polarization converter is placed above the reflectarray. The simulation results show that the reconfigurable CP reflectarray antenna provides beam scanning capabilities between -45 degrees and -10 degrees.
