Abstract

The power and efficiency of the magnetically coupled resonant wireless power transmission system will be affected by the relative position deviation of the primary and secondary coils. When the deviation exceeds the allowable range of the system, the power and efficiency of the energy transmission will decrease rapidly. Therefore, the relative position detection of primary and secondary coils is the premise of guaranteeing the power transmission performance. This paper designs a relative position detection system of magnetic coupler based on low frequency signal strength measurement. The distance between the transmitter at a known location and the receiver is calculated by the low frequency transmission signal strength perceived by the receiver. The relative position information is obtained by using the multiple distances and the weighted trilateral positioning algorithm. Then the precise positioning of the magnetic coupler is realized. The experimental results show that the accuracy of measuring the relative position of the magnetic coupler can reach ±2 cm in a short range by using the low frequency signal receiving strength.
