Abstract

The data transfer speed is the key factor of the implement of VXI module and VXI system. After introducing the software control and the data transfer process in the two different system architectures and the two different memory address decoding methods, the key problems are analyzed to improve the data transfer speed. The block data transfer technique is used in VXI hardware module design and software driver program design in order to improve the data transfer efficiency between the VXI controller and control computer. After the theory being analyzed, the paper shows the actual design of VXI interface with the block data transfer using the EPLD and AHDL. Adopting the interface, the actual VXI bus data generators have been made and used in automatic measure system. In the end, the method to measure the VXI data transfer and the instrument are introduced. The actual measure data show that this technique has largely improved the data transfer speed.
