Abstract

Monitoring the changes in data values obtained from the environment is a primary concern in many fields, as for example in the Energy-Saving controlling system. Moreover, the monitored data are often not available from a single device but are distributed. Therefore to take special attention on the behavior of Energy-Saving controlling system, a monitoring device was developed. In this paper, a decentralized, steady, reliable monitoring device to measure temperature and humidity based on FPGA is described. The hardware setup and a network management protocol Modbus are analyzed. In the application, the devices can be established as a distributed monitoring system through networks adopting standard serial bus interface. This device has been successfully used in a real environment and experiments were carried out to prove its feasibility and benefits.
