Abstract
Building green and environmentally friendly cellular networks is an important direction for the future development of mobile communication technology. As an important part of the mobile cellular network, the energy consumption of the base station cannot be ignored. Considering that user traffic in cellular systems is characterized by periodicity, we can use neural networks to predict their future traffic based on users' historical traffic data. Based on this, we design a base station sleeping scheme for a two-layer heterogeneous cellular network (HeCN), which aims to minimize the overall energy consumption of the network and the user loss rate of the system by switching underutilized Micro Base Stations (MiBS) in the network to a sleeping state and reassigning the users that would otherwise be associated with them to other active base stations in the network. We compare the performance of this strategy with three other baseline strategies, and the simulation results show that our proposed base station sleeping scheme can effectively reduce the total energy consumption of the network while minimizing user loss.
