Abstract

This paper proposes a cylindrically conformal phased microstrip antenna array working at 35 GHz. The element is feeding by an H-shaped coupling slot between its two layer quartz substrates. The feeding approach greatly enhances the bandwidth to 1.6 GHz, and decreases the disturbance effectively between the feeding network and radiating elements, and also improves the efficiency of the antenna array. Based on it, a 1×4 array can be easily conformal to a cylindrically curved surface by using parallel feeding network. 3D electromagnetic simulations verify the merits of the array: wider bandwidth, lower coupling and higher gain.
