Abstract

Current electronic commerce applications have become larger and more complex, and the need cannot be met by the traditional design technologies. Developing and maintaining such a large and complex e-commerce system demand more effective methodology. This paper discusses the characteristics of e-commerce systems and advantages of component-based design method, and proposes a component model for e-commerce framework. The methods/process/technologies for development and maintenance of component-based e-commerce applications are emphasized finally.
