Abstract

Three-dimensional basalt fabric reinforced concrete one-way slabs (3DBFRC slabs) exhibit superior compatibility with the requirements of lightweight design, thin-walled construction and high strength for curtain walls, owing to their excellent comprehensive properties. To address the lack of design methods, this study first established calculation methods for the normal-section flexural capacity and oblique-section shear capacity of 3DBFRC slabs. Subsequently, the statistical properties of uncertainties for the adopted random variables were summarized, followed by the reliability analysis. Finally, corresponding design recommendations, the recommended range of fabric cross-sectional fraction and a complete design procedure for 3DBFRC slabs were proposed to meet practical engineering requirements. The results indicated that the relative errors between the calculated and experimental values of the normal-section flexural capacity of 3DBFRC slabs were all within 20%, validating the effectiveness of the proposed calculation method. The recommended value of the concrete shear capacity coefficient (αv) of the oblique-section for 3DBFRC slabs was 0.35. Reliability analysis revealed that the recommended partial factor for ultimate tensile stress of basalt fiber bundles was 1.35 when the partial safety factor method was adopted. For the resistance reduction design method, the suggested resistance safety factors were 1.35 and 1.25 for normal-section flexural design and oblique-section shear design of 3DBFRC slabs, respectively. The design method developed in this study exhibited high effectiveness, safety and practicality, guiding the engineering application of 3DBFRC slabs in curtain wall engineering.
