Design and validation of wireless dynamic testing system for bridge based on the 941B type vibration sensor

Abstract

In order to ensure the safety of the bridge operation, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) or regular tests should be carried out. SHM or regular tests are very important for large structures such as suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges, cross-ocean bridges, towers, and so on. Much more attention have been paid to some advanced technologies for SHM or regular tests. In order to collect signals wirelessly in civil engineering structure monitoring, a Wireless Dynamic Testing System was designed by modularization and system method, which combines bridge structure detection technique, computer technology, modern sensor technology, wireless communication, and system technology. The wireless testing system consists of a master station and several substations. The master station is composed of a control center subsystem and a data transmission subsystem. The substation is composed of a data transmission subsystem and a gathering subsystem. The software system consists of controlling, data, and Single Chip Microcomputer processing. Finally, the wireless measurement system is tested by a field test of the Sifangtai Cable-stayed Bridge.
