abstract = "This paper researched a kind of wide band microwave coupler with defected ground structure (DGS). The coupling strip line was employed to constitute the wide microwave coupler with the frequency range from 1.5GHz to 4GHz. In order to miniaturize the wide microwave coupler, DGS was used in the design of the coupler. The wide band microwave coupler was simulated through full wave electromagnetic simulation software. The simulated voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of each port was less than 2, and the isolation degree was more than 23dB within the operating frequency range. The wide band operating performances of the microwave coupler were achieved according to the simulation results. The proposed design method of wide band microwave coupler with DGS in this paper can provide a reference for the practical application.",
