Abstract

HIT-DML digital music library is designed and implemented. It adopts a novel framework that is inherently based on database systems. In this framework, music data are structurally stored in the database, and some algorithms of music computation are implemented in the database system. Thus database technologies and multimedia technologies are combined seamlessly. In addition, a new music feature-matching algorithm and an n-gram inverted index structure are carried out. HIT-DML can retrieve music information based on content, especially against different kinds of musical instruments.
