Abstract

Dense TiC-Al₂O₃ composites were produced by self-propergating high temperature synthsis and pseudo-hot isostatic pressing(SHS/PHIP). The composition, microstructure and properties of the product were analyzed. The results show that the product consists of quasi-spherical TiC and irregular A1₂0₃. The interfacial bonding between TiC and Al₂O₃ is smooth. Transverse rupture strength and hardness of TiC-Al₂O₃ composites are aproximately SlOMPa and 17.8GPa.
