Abstract

Using a mixed powder of gas-atomized Cu50Zr45Al 5 glassy alloy powder blended with Cu particulate, we fabricated bulk Cu50Zr45Al5 glassy alloy composite (GAC) by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. The fabricated Cu50Zr 45Al5 GAC specimens exhibit simultaneously high strength and improved plasticity as well as dramatically improved electrical conductivity by adding high-conductive Cu particulate. No crystallization of glassy matrix and good bonding state between the particles are responsible for good mechanical and electrical properties of the fabricated bulk GACs.
