Abstract

The creep behavior of a two phase Ti-45Al-9 (Nb,W,B,Y) alloy was investigated at 760°C and 815°C, under stresses ranging from 80 MPa to 300 MPa. The initial microstructure was found to be fine duplex micro structure. The comparison of the creep properties was presented between the duplex and the full lamellar microstructure of high-Nb containing TiAl alloy. It can be confirmed that the duplex alloy studied exhibit lower creep resistance and a minimum creep rate higher than that of the full lamellar Ti46A18.5Nb0.1C0.2B alloy by one order of magnitude. Creep stress exponents show that at 760°C-815°C, 80 MPa-300 MPa, the creep mechanism of this alloy is dislocation climb.
