Core Loss Analysis of Transverse Flux Tubular Motor in Different Motion Modes

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

An attractive feature of the transverse flux tubular motor is that with increasing number of poles, unlike in the radial flux tubular motor, the current loading can be increased and as a result a higher value of specific force density can be achieved. This paper investigates the stator core loss of transverse flux tubular motor in different motion modes. The influences on the stator core loss in the uniform motion are analyzed in detail, including the speed, load current, and the lead-lag control of load current. Besides, the calculation of core loss in a variable speed reciprocating periodic motion is given the special attention. In order to verify the accuracy of calculation, the core loss measurement in different motion modes is designed and the comparison results are analyzed.
