Coordinated Active-Inertia Support Strategy for Integrated Three-Port Power Router

Abstract

This paper proposes a coordinated active-inertia support strategy for integrated three-port power router (TP-PR). By coordinately controlling the MVDC voltage during AC power disturbances, the high-frequency voltage in the arm can correspondingly be reduced. Then, the SM capacitor voltage can be strategically reduced to release more energy for inertia support, while preventing MMC overmodulation. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated by simulation results. Compared with the conventional strategy, the proposed strategy expands the release energy of the SM capacitor for inertia support by 51%.
